Sony has expanded the benefits attached to PlayStation Plus with a new Perks programme, offering subscribers access to discounts, free trials and entertainment deals from PlayStation and selected partners. There is one catch for players in Ireland: the programme is not currently available here.

Announced by PlayStation UK on 6 November, the Perks programme sits alongside the existing benefits of PlayStation Plus. Unlike some subscription extras, the new offers are available across all three membership tiers: Essential, Extra and Premium. However, eligibility is currently limited to PlayStation accounts registered in the United Kingdom, France or Germany.

What do PlayStation Plus members get?

The UK Perks page currently lists a mixture of entertainment trials, discounts and partner offers. These include:

  • YouTube Premium: A three-month trial for eligible new subscribers.
  • Calm Premium: A two-month trial of the sleep and meditation service.
  • Audible: Three months at £0.99 per month for eligible customers.
  • DAZN: 20% off a 12-month DAZN Ultimate subscription.
  • Sony Pictures Core: A movie credit to use in the service.
  • PlayStation Direct: A 5% discount on eligible hardware purchases and £10 off selected DualSense controllers.
  • Sony Electronics: 10% off selected gaming products and Bluetooth speakers.

Offers have their own eligibility rules, exclusions and expiry dates. Some trials are limited to new customers, while others may be available to existing subscribers. Members should check the individual terms before signing up or redeeming a deal.

Irish subscribers are not included yet

For PlayStation Plus members in Ireland, the biggest detail is the regional restriction. Sony’s official UK Perks page states that the programme is currently available only to accounts registered in the UK, France or Germany. Irish accounts are not listed, and Sony has not announced an expansion to Ireland or other territories.

That means Irish subscribers should not assume they can claim the advertised trials and discounts simply because they have an active Essential, Extra or Premium membership. Availability is tied to the country registered to the PlayStation account, not just the membership tier.

A useful extra, but a limited launch

The new programme gives PlayStation Plus a little more to offer beyond its game catalogues, monthly titles and online multiplayer. The mix of streaming trials, entertainment offers and hardware discounts could add genuine value for members who can use them.

Sony says new offers will be added periodically. For now, though, the Perks programme has a limited regional launch, leaving Irish subscribers waiting to see whether these benefits will make their way across the water.
