PlayStation’s Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble is being discontinued before it ever reaches a full global release. Developer Oh BiBi has confirmed that development has ended on the free-to-play mobile spin-off, with the game set to disappear from app stores later this month and its servers scheduled to close in May 2027.
The announcement was published on the game’s official website on 6 November. A final planned update is rolling out to existing players, but there will be no further updates after 7 November.
When will Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble shut down?
Oh BiBi has confirmed three key dates for the game’s remaining life:
- 6 November 2026: The final planned update begins rolling out on the Apple App Store and Google Play.
- 21 November 2026: The game will be removed from both stores and will no longer be available for new players to download.
- 1 May 2027: The servers will permanently shut down, making the game unplayable.
Players who already have the game installed can continue playing until the server closure. In-app purchases have been disabled, while the Super Pass is now free and the Qwark Pass seasons will continue until the end of service. Any remaining player data will be deleted when the servers close, and progress or unlocked items cannot be transferred to another game.
A Ratchet & Clank game that never made it to global launch
Ranger Rumble was announced in November 2025 as a free-to-play multiplayer arena shooter for mobile devices, developed by Oh BiBi in partnership with Insomniac Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. Rather than launching worldwide, it remained in a limited regional soft launch, gradually becoming available in selected markets.
That makes its cancellation particularly unusual: the game is moving from a limited testing phase straight towards closure without receiving the full global release many players may have expected. The developer has not given a reason for the decision.
What does this mean for the main series?
Oh BiBi has explicitly stated that the decision has no impact on other Ratchet & Clank games or PlayStation services. The cancellation is limited to Ranger Rumble and should not be taken as an indication that the main console series is in trouble.
For Ranger Rumble, however, the countdown has begun. Players who want to try the mobile spin-off have until 21 November to download it, while existing players have until 1 May 2027 before the servers go offline for good.
