PUBG is heading to Netflix, with Donald Glover attached to lead a live-action series based on KRAFTON’s hugely popular battle royale franchise.

Announced by KRAFTON on 30 October, the project will see Glover take on several roles: he will write, direct, executive produce and star in the series. His brother, Stephen Glover, is also attached as a writer and executive producer.

There is plenty of room for an original story here. Unlike narrative-driven games such as The Last of Us, PUBG is built around its battle royale format, with players fighting to be the last one standing. That leaves the creative team with an interesting challenge: turning that premise into a television story.

For now, details are scarce. No plot, additional cast members, filming schedule or release date have been announced. The series is currently in development at Netflix, with KRAFTON’s entertainment arm, LV3H, involved in the project.

One thing is certain: with Donald Glover leading the creative side, this is one gaming adaptation worth keeping an eye on.
